What we repair in Midway

Leaks from ice dams at the eaves. Snow and wind damage. Missing, cracked or lifted shingles. Failed flashing at chimneys, skylights, vents and walls. Valleys that hold meltwater. Tile, slate and metal panel repairs. You get written findings with photographs before we touch anything, so you see what we saw.

Why ice dams form on Heber Valley roofs

Warm air from the house heats the roof deck and melts the snow above it. The meltwater runs down to the cold eave, freezes, and builds a ridge of ice. The next meltwater backs up behind that ridge and runs under the shingles. A repair that only replaces the wet shingles will leak again next winter. We check attic ventilation and insulation, and we install ice and water shield at the eaves and in every valley, because that is what stops the water.

Snow load and Midway homes

Many Midway homes have steep pitches, dormers and several valleys, from the Swiss-style houses near Main Street to the mountain homes on the hillsides. Valleys and wall joints are where snow and meltwater sit longest, so that is where we look first. We install and repair asphalt shingles, standing seam metal, tile, slate and flat roofs, and we are certified by 8 manufacturers.

Common questions
Can you fix an ice dam leak without replacing the roof?

Often, yes. We find where the meltwater got in, replace the damaged underlayment and shingles at the eave, and check the attic ventilation and insulation that caused it. If the deck is rotten or the roof is near the end of its life, we show you photographs and you decide.

Do you charge to look at my Midway roof?

No. The inspection and the written estimate are free, with photographs of what we find.

What kinds of roofs do you repair in Midway?

Asphalt shingles, standing seam and stone-coated metal, concrete and clay tile, natural and synthetic slate, and flat or low-slope roofs.
